Olympics

I LOVE the Olympics. It is probably one of the only times I feel truly patriotic or that I am really proud of my country, and the athletes we have produced. Unfortunately I do not have a TV so to fix my predicament, I spent three hours at the gym watching the men's gymnastic team qualifying, beach volleyball, and swimming, including Michael Phelps' first gold medal of the games. I can't wait until I'm home and can watch the Olympics with the fam. Its kind of tradition, watching the Olympics as a family on the couch or on my parents' bed or whatever. I miss that!

Unfortunately they don't have live internet streaming on any of the events watched a bunch, like gymnastics and swimming, but they do have 1 hour and 41 minutes of the Chinese women's gymnastics team warming up and practicing, which I am watching.

Angela is coming down to Provo this week and will be bringing Lara's TV with her, so hopefully I won't have to do any more three hour workouts, my knee is killing me! But if necessary, I would sacrifice to be able to watch the Olympics: bring on the pain baby! Oh, and men gymnasts are amazingly strong. Its unbelievable.

One observation from my internet streaming time:

Gymnasts wear scrunchies. I would like to know why, instead of simply pulling their hair back with normal hair ties or even with a ribbon as a decorative touch. The scrunchies match their outfits, but is it some kind of 'generally accepted rule' that they all must wear hideous scrunchies? it reminds me of the 90's when that sort of thing was popular.

Second thing I wanted to show ya'll in case you missed it.

Sasha Artemev's pommel horse routine. This is an old video but I'm pretty sure its the same, or at least close to it. Absolutely amazing, and I don't even like that event so much.
