Since my trip to California there have been two fantastic trips-- one to Brazil and one to Oregon, which I would have to say were two of the best trips of my life. The consequences were kind of crummy, but the highlights were well worth it. I haven't written in a while mostly because I am missing almost all of my pictures from Rio de Janiero. So unfortunately I'll just give a recap of what went down in Brazil. I arrived, sweaty and disgusting to the Sao Paulo airport on Wednesday morning. After meeting up with Helena and her mom, I saw a whole bunch of missionaries congregating in the airport... one from my flight joined up with them. Apparently Helena had been asking them questions and stuff while waiting for me.
We drove back to Helena's apartment in traffic and I was amazed at the sheer size of the city. There were skyscrapers in every direction. The river we drove by was pretty disgusting, and we also passed by some favelas. When we got home we ate lunch (rice and beans! yummmm), after which I emailed my parents really quickc and crashed in Helena's room for a few hours. When I woke up, it was dark, and we had this delicious chicken pastry thing with the most delicious cheese. the cheese was called Catupiry, and I want some NOW.
So that was the first day- I need some sleep now but I'll keep adding more.
