The weekend Emily came to town

This weekend was.. well.. BOSS. I don't know how else to capture the essence of it, to be completely honest. My friend Emily came down from BYU-I and we had such a good time. It was nice to have someone around from home again. Considering from my old stake (of people I actually SORT OF knew) there are maybe two people here, it was refreshing. Friday night we went to the EDP thing, which, as usual was incredibly fun. It was in this really cute old cafe place with stone walls and such. At 11:30 it was shut down because of not being approved for fire code, so about 15-20 ppl (overall.. some came and went) and I went to IHOP!! :) I love that place. We ate until our hearts were content, talked longer, and left around 2am to come back to Provo. Even though the dancing was cut short, it was a really nice night.

Saturday I had a writing fellows meeting/retreat thing from 9am-noon, which I was NOT happy about. It was mandatory, and if I didn't go, I would have had to attend three makeup workshops. On the bright side- 3 extra hours of work, which will cover my weekend expenses.

Afterwards I was feeling blaaah and exhausted, I stopped by the lib with Rachel to check the WF file cabinet and look for a book then emily and I VEGGED all day. We thought about going to see 'he's just not that into you' but realizing it would be a whole lot cheaper we decided to rent a movie and eat taco bell instead. YUM.

BUT I had forgotten about a party that the guys in my ward were throwing... "Cupid's Ball"

I figured we would just drop in, make an appearance, and jet. However, it ended up being WAAAY more fun than I thought. There were diff things in each condo, food, fondue, mixed drinks, a string quartet, valentines (a little late, but whatev), and in the basement was a dance party- of course you can guess where I spent most of my time. The music was not exactly... well.. I am kind of a dance party snob I guess, but it was not up to par. So Paul had asked me to help out making the DP part of the event a success, and I thought- 'if I am going to help out and get people to dance, we better have some music that I actually would want to dance to." SO emily and I ran home, made a quick dance party playlist and headed back. The rest of the night was a hit! There weren't a ton of people, but that didn't matter. The guests were having fun and dancing, which really was all that mattered. There's nothing too special about making a playlist or anything, but I was so happy that people enjoyed it. I was also very impressed with the guys in my ward for putting together such a great event.

Overall the weekend, despite a few setbacks, was fantastic. I am poooooped but it was worth it. I had a blast with Emily and can't wait till we get to hang out again!! :)
